Parents as partners in education
  • The Parent Association was established in February 2016. Since that time the PA have organised many events for the children and parents. Money raised has provided additional resources for the children. The Principal, staff and Board of Management are very appreciative of the hard work and dedication of all members of the Parent Association.

    All parents or guardians of children attending Malahide/Portmarnock Educate Together National School are members of the Parent Association.

    The purpose of the Parent Association is to provide a structure through which the parents/guardians of children attending Malahide Portmarnock Educate Together National School can work together for the best possible education for their children. The Parent Association work with the Principal, staff and Board of Management to build effective partnership between home and school.

  • The Parent Association Committee

    The members of the Parent Association elect a committee with a maximum of 14 and a minimum of 6. The members of the committee are elected each year at the AGM of the Parent Association (usually in Jan). All parents/guardians of children enrolled in the school are eligible to stand for election to the committee during the AGM. This committee have responsibility for representing the parents of Malahide Portmarnock Educate Together National School and managing the activities of the Parent Association.The Parent Association committee finance the activities of the Parent Association through fundraising.   • AGM

    The Parents’ Association AGM will be held in the school on Wednesday 8th November at 730pm.  It’s your chance to find out a bit more about what we do and get involved.  We hope to see you there.

    School fundraising

    Last year we organised a Winter Wonderland, Race Night and Sponsored walk. As well as being great fun, they raised funds which covered the school deficit, and also allowed us to purchase P.E. equipment, music equipment, books for the library, iPads, science equipment, sensory materials and construction toys for the children. In the coming academic year we will again be holding a Winter Wonderland and Sponsored Walk, as well as our major social fundraiser for parents.

    We have already held one fundraiser this academic year, which was a great success. We raised €2144.82 bag packing at Dunnes Stores Portmarnock, which will be used to build an outdoor classroom for the children. Many thanks to everyone who volunteered their time, and helped make it such a successful event. 

    PA Coffee mornings

    The coffee mornings are an opportunity for parents to get to know other parents, to ask question and discuss new ideas with PA committee members.  The next coffee morning will be held in January in the school after drop off. Date to be confirmed.  We hope to see you there.

    After school activities

    Our after school activities are organised by the after school activities committee, which is a sub-committee of the PA. Our current after school activities are Monday: Craft Club & Swimming, Tuesday: Music Theory & Guitar lessons, Thursday: Piano, Guitar lessons & Sports for Fun class and Friday: Irish Dancing. We hope to add more activities throughout the year. More information on classes are available on the Parent Association notice board at the school gate.

    The committee also organises Sibling Hour. This runs from 12.55-1.55 and is for children in Junior and Senior Infants who have an older sibling in the school finishing at the later time. It is run by garda vetted parent volunteers.

    Back to school celebration

    On Wednesday September 13th we held our 2nd annual “Back to School Celebration” for the children and their families. Again it was a great success; the children got to enjoy bouncy castles, get their faces painted, take part in the kiddie disco and eat an ice cream in school which was a great novelty!  Even a couple of showers didn’t dampen spirits and great fun was had by all!

    Bus Eireann School Transport

    A number of parents applied to Bus Eireann for a subsidised school bus for the year 2017/2018, however the applications were unsuccessful on this occasion.
